Successful development requires not only the formulation of sound policies and programmes, but also their effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
With this in mind, PEMA was established in January 2003 as an operating unit of the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation (MIC), reporting directly to H.E. Minister Fayza Aboul Naga.
The aim of the centre is to evaluate projects funded by Egypt’s development partners. Analytical studies and policy briefs are also prepared in the area of international cooperation and development at large and issues related thereto. In addition, the centre seeks to improve the coordination and effectiveness of international assistance received.
At the same time, PEMA aims to continuously strengthen its capacity to undertake more project evaluations and research assignments and to raise awareness about its work. PEMA focuses on intensifying cooperation with more development partners and Egyptian executing agencies, as well as with supervisory agencies and policy makers.
